I wanted to get deeper into environmental portraiture. How can you convey someone’s individual story with setting? I decided to explore the idea of capturing the portraits of antique dealers. Who is more connected to the things around them than antique dealers? The trouble is when you start to haunt the antique dealer stalls you see a lot of “No Photography” signs so I knew it would be a challenge to break through. Luckily I found a place, Alfies Antiques, in London that I absolutely fell in love with. A cray maze of antiques shops and you’ll find the dealers there and ready to chat about their beloved collections and just about everything else. While I’ve grabbed some great photos, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone and chatting with them about their passion and everything else in between. Most have a gret story to tell.
